Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mackey Funeral Home - Middleton on Jan. 8, 2026.
Joyce P. Piwonski, a cherished soul known for her smile and generous heart, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on January 7, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on
August 26, 1940, in
Beverly, Massachusetts, Joyce's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and her commitment to her family, faith, and community.
Joyce's early years in Danvers shaped the woman she would become. A proud graduate of Danvers High School and Salem State College, she dedicated many years to nurturing young minds as an elementary school teacher. She also taught English as A Second Language to an adult, Vietnamese student whom she befriended. After a fulfilling career in teaching in both Massachusetts and Maine, Joyce continued her journey of service at the Social Security Administration in Boston, where she retired after many years of commendable work.
Family was the cornerstone of Joyce's life. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Phillip R. Piwonski of Danvers. Joyce was a devoted mother to her daughters, Cheryl Glenn and her husband Jon of Danvers, and Robin Bouchard and her husband Norman of Peabody. She enjoyed time with her grandchildren: Stephen, Zachary, Taylor, and Aaron, as well as step-grandchildren Shannon, Meagan, and Parker. Joyce's legacy continues to shine through her great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Presley, and Gemma.
Joyce's siblings, Susan Ortins of Danvers, Gail Woodward of Peabody, and Jeffrey Pelletier of Inver Grove, Minnesota, will remember her fondly for her warmth and guidance. She was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Muriel (MacDonald) Pelletier, and siblings Betty Kirk, Nancy Marshall, Marilyn Norwood, Dick Pelletier, and Ronald Pelletier.
A devout Christian, Joyce's faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She sang with a joyous heart in the Church Choir at St. Stephen's Memorial Episcopal Church, wher she was a beacon of light and love to all members of the congregation.
Joyce's zest for life extended beyond her family and faith. An avid lover of the outdoors, she spent many summers camping alongside the Saco River in New Hampshire, at the Squam Lake region and at Woodman Lake Campground in
East Wakefield, NH, where she found solace in nature's beauty. Her interests in singing and dancing were a source of delight not only to her but to everyone who had the pleasure of joining her. Joyce's presence was a melody that resonated through the lives of those she touched.
As we say farewell to Joyce P. Piwonski, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion that will continue to inspire. Her memory will be cherished, and her spirit will forever be a part of the many lives she touched. Joyce's journey on this earth may have concluded, but her story will be recounted with affection and her influence will endure in the hearts of her beloved family and friends.
