Joyce (O'Flanagan) Prissel was born August 3, 1932, to Sidney O'Flanagan and Nellie (Johnson) O'Flanagan in Ridgeland, WI.
Joyce graduated from UW River Falls with a degree in teaching. She taught at Vanceburg in a one-room school near Prairie Farm. Most of her career, 40 plus years, was spent at Luther Hospital Lab in cytology. She also volunteered at Luther upon retirement.
In Dec. 1966, Joyce and family moved into a beautiful home built by her late husband, Kenneth Prissel. Joyce lived the rest of her life there, 50 years, hosting countless family gatherings.
Her home was always a welcome destination for visiting family. Her skills as a cook were second to none. Joyce enjoyed playing cards with her card groups, socializing with family and friends.
She loved to read, consuming books nonstop. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
What To Do
"Show, don't tell," they say, and I agree:
so here, take a look at my naked body, of which
I will tell you nothing, and here is my naked soul,
into which I will jump with both feet clad
only in socks, bright red ones from which
sparks are flying as I whiz into its depths.
