Joyce Lynn Rainey, age 75, of Ozark, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022. She was born June 1, 1947 in Springfield, the daughter of Homer Carl Rainey and Catherine (Craig) Rainey. The family moved to Ozark when Joyce was two, and Joyce continued to live there throughout her life. She was a 1965 graduate of Ozark High School.
Joyce was employed by Heritage Cafeteria in Springfield, and later worked in the cafeteria for the Ozark School District.
She had been a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Ozark since an early age. Joyce had an outstanding singing voice, and used it to honor her Lord. She sang for many years in the church choir. While in school, Joyce had entertained and won awards for her beautiful voice. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines, and traveled with the singing group throughout the United States as well as England.
Joyce served as caregiver for her mother until her mother passed away in 2017. She looked forward to Wednesday bowling and lunch with high school friends. Joyce loved children and her nieces and nephews were the light in her life.
Survivors include: A brother Craig Rainey and wife Mary Jo of Ozark; nieces and nephews, Kimmie Jo Woolery, Josh Rainey, Carrie Rainey, Misty Thompson and Kelsey Williams Rainey; great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother Kent Rainey, and her parents.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, December 26, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Chris Thixton officiating. Burial will follow in Ozark City Cemetery.
In honor of Joyce's heart for children, memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
