Joyce Reil Obituary

Joyce Reil

October 30, 1941 - September 23, 2025

Joyce M. Reil, 83, formerly of Lexington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Providence Place in Hastings, Neb.

She was born on October 30, 1941, in Turlock, Calif. to Harry and Fern (Smith) Lazar. The family moved to Nebraska where Joyce attended and graduated from Aurora High School with the class of 1959. Joyce was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ervin Reil on June 2, 1962, in Kearney, Neb. Five children were blessed to this union: Craig, Tracy, Troy Jason, and Bryan.

In 1963, the couple made their home in Lexington, where Joyce worked in many locations. She first started working at Simplot before transitioning to secretary for Jason's Body Shop. She then spent many years working for the Dawson County Courthouse in the Assessor's office. In the mid-1990's, Joyce would go on to dedicate over 20 years to Wal-Mart until her retirement in 2020. Joyce was also a superintendent for the fair board for many years and was Grand Marshall at the 2015 Nebraska State Fair.

In her younger years, Joyce enjoyed spending her Thursdays with her friends, competing in their bowling league and also on Mondays, when she would bowl with her husband.

She was a crafty woman, often seen knitting or cross-stitching, and always focused a lot of time and love to her garden and flowers. Joyce was also quite the baker and would always make cookies for her family and would eventually mail those cookies to her sons once they moved and had families of their own.

Survivors include her sons, Jason (Kayla) Reil of St. Louis, Missouri, and Bryan Reil of Lincoln; grandsons, Parker Reil, Hunter Reil, and Jaxson Reil; granddaughter, Collins Reil; siblings, LaVonne (Dan) Tiede of Elwood, and Harry (Mary Jane) Lazar of Yakima, Washington; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Besides her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; sons, Craig Reil and Troy Reil; infant daughter, Tracy Reil; and sister, Harriet Lazar.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Lexington.

Graveside Services will be held after the funeral at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington, with family receiving guests from 5 to 7 p.m.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
