John Reil Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Athy Memorial Home - Worcester on Feb. 7, 2026.
John T. Reil, 42, of Leicester, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous battle with illness. He was a cherished son, beloved husband, devoted father and brother, and a loyal friend to many.

Born on September 14, 1983, in Frankfurt, Germany, John spent his formative years in Massachusetts, where he attended Assabet Regional High School. It was there that he discovered his lifelong passion for building - a calling he carried proudly into adulthood. Whether working independently or serving in recent years as a project manager for a construction company, John took great pride in his craftsmanship, creativity, and attention to detail.

John's energy and personality lit up every room he entered. Funny and outgoing, he was known for his good-natured pranks and his ability to bring smiles to those around him. A true lover of life and adventure, John found joy in the outdoors and embraced experiences such as skydiving, scuba diving, and fishing. In his younger years, he excelled in sports including wrestling, football, and baseball, earning recognition for his athletic ability.

Creativity was central to who John was. He loved drawing and painting and was rarely without music playing - any genre that spoke to his heart. He cherished traveling, meeting new people, and making memories with friends who became like family. Having lived in several communities, including Clinton, Massachusetts, John formed deep and lasting connections wherever he went.

He will be remembered for his warmth, humor, adventurous spirit, and the positivity with which he faced life's challenges. John leaves behind a large and loving family in the United States, as well as an extended family in Albania through his wife, and countless friends who will carry his memory always.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, February 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. A service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home, with burial at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
