Will always remember Joyce as she was the first to welcome me to a new school...transferred in my junior year. Good friend and wonderful person.

It is nice to reflect one year after Joyce´s death. She often comes to mind as the fun, smart, friendly fellow classmate in midwifery school. She was a gift to all who knew her-the many women she served, her family and many friends.

I extend sympathy to Renee and all the family in the death of Joyce.
My wonderful memory of Joyce is from nurse-midwifery school at the University of Utah. Those wonderful early years of US midwifery training with 12 in our class. It was obvious that Joyce was brilliant along with being a lot of fun. Many potlucks were held on " C" street at my roommate´s and my apartment. Renee you were the center of attention-I´m guessing you were about 2 years old. That blond curly hair and adorable! Joyce and I reconnected after she moved to Michigan and we got to visit at my house in Frankenmuth with some other midwives.
It has been said women birth as they live their lives. I´ve heard the same for the end of life- people die as they live their lives. I hope this is how it was for Joyce, that she could still share her deep sense of love, commitment and devotion to all those she so loved. She was truly " one of a kind"!
Much love and blessings to all the family,
Ann

Joyce was the first person I met when I transferred to Central High School the end of my junior year. She immediately brought me into her circle of friends. She and Judy convinced me to run for cheerleader with them! I´ll never forget her kindness and welcome. My deepest sympathies to Judy and her family.

This is a shock. I remember watching Joyce and her twin sister lead cheers at basketball games in Cheyenne when we were in high school. She was my OB teacher at the U. of Wyo in the 60's. I recall the time she taught me how to cath. We then both became CNMs and worked together on legislative issues. She was a singular leader.
God bless,

Remembering Joyce fondly. She was greatly respected for her leadership, knowledge and research. I got to know her personally while she was at University of Michigan, sharing in common our profession, our church and a small group of women who met to play canasta. She will be missed.

My thoughts are with her family. She was a midwifery pioneer.

Joyce was an important mentor and friend in my professional life. She was a significant midwifery scholar and leader. Although I am sad to hear of her passing, I know she is whole again in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
