Joyce Sanders

Joyce Anne Sanders, age 88, of Harrodsburg, KY widow of Cleo Sanders, died Sunday, October 5, 2025 at UK Medical Center, Lexington, KY. Joyce was born October 31, 1936 in Harrodsburg, KY, to the late Daniel G. and Myrtle (Parsons) Cornelius.

Joyce was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School and of Eastern Kentucky University, and was a retired teacher. She had taught in the Anderson Co. and Harrodsburg School Districts, as well as Kindergarten at Lad and Lassie. She also taught English as a second language to local foreign students and Hitachi Automotive sponsored her travel to visit schools in Japan. Joyce was a member of the Harrodsburg United Presbyterian Church where she played piano and served as an Elder. She was a Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a Regent of The Daughters of the American Revolution. She was past President of the Woman's Club of Harrodsburg and had been active in the Democratic Woman's Club. Joyce loved playing Bridge and enjoyed walking.

She is survived by: a niece, Amy Davis, and two nephews, Jim and Dan Withrow.

Joyce was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Marshall Sanders, and two sisters, Danna Sharp and Janice Johnson.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Harrodsburg United Presbyterian Church, 326 South Main Street, Harrodsburg, KY with Rev. John White officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, with an Order of the astern Star Committal Service.

Visitation will be Friday, October 10th from 11AM - 1PM at the Harrodsburg United Presbyterian Church.

Pallbearers will be Alan "Mac" and Philip McIntosh, David Lynn, Buddy Logue, Ron Corbit, and Mike Matherly.

Memorials are suggested to DAR Jane McAfee Chapter or to the Harrodsburg United Presbyterian Church.
