Our mother, Joyce Olivia Simonson, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 5, 2025.
She was born to Hans and Eliza Nelson of Aniwa, WI on June 23, 1926. On March 20, 1948, she married Myron Simonson Jr., and was blessed with a daughter, Linda Simonson-Husbyn, Wausau, son, Douglas Simonson, Wausau and twins, Patricia Hildreth, Kentucky and Pamela Congdon, Texas. She has 10 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Mom held the Lord's hand for 98 years.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Myron; parents; twin sister, June Radtke; and siblings, Esther Haug, Stanley Nelson, Chester, Nelson, Elenora Berg, Viola Solberg, Grace Hanson and Ruth Grade.
Joyce enjoyed sewing and took pride in dressing identical twin daughters. She was a Sunday school teacher and sang solo for a Christian radio program. Her time was also spent as a Cub Scout and Brownie leader. Besides being a homemaker, she worked for J.C. Penney and the County Health Care Center. She had many dear friends and enjoyed entertaining and writing poetry.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Rev. Dennis Romine will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
