Joyce A. Smith, of Butler, NJ, born on March 23,1957, in Jersey City, New Jersey, departed this life on September 21, 2024, at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, after a long illness. She was a cherished member of her family and a dedicated professional whose contributions will be fondly remembered.
Joyce was a proud graduate of high school and went on to become hard worker, known for her sweetness, kindness, and exceptional tolerance towards others. Her career flourished as she belonged to the Local 464A Meat Cutters Union, where she served diligently at Shop Rite in Oakland, New Jersey, as a food preparer in the Deli Department. Joyce's commitment to her work exemplified her strong work ethic and dedication to those she served.
Her life was enriched by her deep love for her family, particularly her granddaughter, Christie Corlett. Joyce found immense joy in spending time with her loved ones and often shared delightful moments through her hobbies and interests. She enjoyed playing games and watching videos on her phone, relishing the simple pleasures of life. Joyce also cherished visits to the Amish country, especially Lancaster, PA, and had fond memories of times spent at Lake George and the Jersey shore during her younger years.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Carl J. Smith, and her caring children: Sandra Lee Obringer, stepdaughter Carrie-Anne Torgerson and her husband Steven. Also surviving are her brothers Frank Pron, Jr., Billy Pron and his wife Tiffany, her sister Corinne Leake, sister Nancy "Sissy" Pron, and sister Terri De Bord and her husband Ken, her granddaughter, Christie Corlett, step-grandchildren Amanda Torgerson, Cody Torgerson and his wife Jana and many nieces and nephews. The family will forever remember her warmth, kindness, and the love she conveyed throughout her life.
Joyce's legacy also includes those who preceded her in death, including her stepson Christopher Smith, her father Frank Pron, Sr., and her mother Dorothy (nee Mahoney) Pron.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation and funeral service scheduled for September 25, 2024, at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, Inc. in Butler, New Jersey. The visitation will take place from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 8:30 PM.
As we remember Joyce A. Smith, let us celebrate the profound impact she made on our lives with her kindness, dedication, and unwavering love for family.
