Joyce Sparks Obituary
Joy was preceded in death by her father, Robert Clifford Smith; her mother, Edith Lela Smith; her brothers Bill Smith and Bob Smith; her sister Sandy Delozier; and her brother in law David Price.
She is survived by her son, John Robert Sparks (Linda), and her daughter, Laurie Beth Burchfield (Allen). Joy was a proud and loving grandmother to Caleb Burchfield (Katie), Ashton Burchfield Riddle (Brentley), and Kyle Burchfield along with his girlfriend, Hannah Evans, and Aaron Sparks. She is also survived by her sister Betty Price; her brothers Wayne Smith (Sandy) and Jack Smith (Caroline); and many nieces and nephews who cherished her deeply.
Joy was truly loved by all who knew her. She held a special place in her heart for her church families at Maple Grove Missionary Baptist Church and Friendsville First Baptist Church. Their support, fellowship, and friendship enriched her life in countless ways.
A very special thank you is extended to her lifelong friend, Peggy Lawson. Only the Lord can send a friend so faithful and true. Peggy stood by Joy's side until the very end, offering the kind of love and devotion that can only come from a sister of the heart.
Pastor Allen Burchfield will be officiating the service as family and friends gather to honor a life lived with grace, compassion, and unwavering faith.
Joy's legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday January 4, 2026 at Maple Grove Missionary Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life to follow at 6:00 PM. Arrangements made by Miller Funeral Home.

I was so sorry to hear of Joyce's passing. She was a special friend at Everett High School, and we continued to correspond occasionally. I am so sorry for your loss, and her sweet spirit will be missed. We
had a chance encounter a few months ago at ETMG and she looked fabulous.
