1932 - 2025
Saugus - Joyce W. (Clements) Stretton, age 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13th. She was the loving wife of the late Robert Stretton.
Joyce grew up in Lynn and eventually moved to Saugus and married Robert in 1952 where they established themselves and built a home. She worked many years at Travelers Insurance Co. in Boston. In 1972 she took her civil service exam to be able to work for the Town of Saugus and work at the Ballard School.
Her real love and passion was her house, whether working in the yard and in her gardens or just taking in the daily events at home. You could always find Joyce sitting on her porch with friends or family members trying to solve the world's problems. The summer trip to Woodman's in Essex was something she always looked forward to.
Joyce always had a soft spot in her heart for the love of Boxer dogs ever since her sons Thomas and Scott brought the first one home back in the 1980's.
Joyce was the loving mother to Thomas and Scott Stretton and the late Susan Streeter; proud grandmother of Robert, Matthew, Shana, Derek, Tyler and his wife Megan; cherished great grandmother of Stevie, Thomas, Christopher, Claire and Lea; and dear mother-in-law of Steven Streeter and Sharon January. She also had several brothers and a sister, six nephews and one niece.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joyce's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Mass at alz.org/manh.
Service Information: Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., SAUGUS on Sunday from 2 – 4 p.m. A funeral will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. followed by Interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
