Funeral services for Joyce Tanner, 94, of Dime Box, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025 at St. John Lutheran Church in Dime Box with Pastor Terry Bage officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, October 3, 2025 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Joyce Elaine Pierce Tanner was born on June 3, 1931 in Harlingen, Texas to Gregory Roy Pierce and Rillous Pauline (Newell) Pierce. Joyce graduated from Central High School in Texas City in 1949. She went on to attend Brazos Port College where she took courses in Celestial Navigation, Accounting, Business and Administration Office Management. Joyce married Billy Albert Tanner on January 17, 1975 in Freeport, Texas . She was an accountant and last worked for Diamond P in Dime Box. She loved making quilts, playing cards with friends, and traveling to new places. Joyce passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Copperas Hollow Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Caldwell. She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Turrner; parents, Gregory and Rillous Pierce, and three brothers, Ronald Pierce, Jesse Pierce, and James Pierce. Joyce is survived by her extended family and friends. Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Dime Box or to the charity of one's choice.
