Annetta Henrietta Shepard

A homegoing celebration for Annetta "Cotton" Shepard, 89, of Elgin formerly Giddings, Texas, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Phillips and Luckey Funeral home in Giddings, Texas, with Rev. J.R. Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in the Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home. The family will be present for visitation on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Cotton was born into this world on September 20, 1936, in Giddings, Texas, to Burnett and Ora (Moore) Wade. She attended and graduated from Giddings High School. Cotton worked for the Texas Youth Commission for 21 years as a house parent. She was a hard worker who loved working with the students and her fellow coworkers. When Cotton wasn't working, she enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, and always looked forward to holidays surrounded by family.
Cotton went to be with the Lord the evening of Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at the Elgin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with her family by her side.
She is greeted in heaven by her parents, Burnett and Ora Wade; seven siblings, Mac Wade, Hugh Leslie, Doris Wade, Marion Ross, Burnett Wade Jr., Agnes Ellis, and Willie Mae Brown.
Cotton leaves to mourn her passing her three children, Brian Wade Sr. and wife Rachel of Giddings, Shawn Shepard of Giddings, and Jeanette Campbell of Elgin; nine grandchildren, Bronte Wade of Georgetown, Brian Wade Jr. of Magnolia, Tori Wade of Magnolia, Summer Korzekwa of Giddings, Autumn Korzekwa of San Marcos, Byron Campbell of Minnesota, Brittany Shepard of Round Rock, Tawshawna Shepard of Manor, and Zakari Shepard of Elgin; eleven great-grandchildren, Keagan Campbell of New Mexico, Keaton Wade of Houston, Wrenley Wade of Houston, Lucas Wade of Magnolia, Omari White of Arizona, Maeve Ealy of Giddings, Cedric Baker of Manor, Kianna Rector of Georgetown, Quinton Berry of Georgetown, Zaiden Tolliver of Georgetown, and Lyric Baker of Manor; one sister, Helen Shields of Austin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Memorials may be made to the Relay For Life of Lee County and Elgin, or to the charity of one's choice.
