Obituary of Joyce Marie Tersteeg
Joyce Marie Tersteeg (Negen) was born on January 12,1934 in Renville County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Jim & Ethel (Goris) Negen. She attended District #116 schools for her education.
On June 4, 1953 she was united in marriage to Robert Tersteeg. They spent the next 2 years in Tulsa, OK, while Bob went to Spartan School of Aeronautics. They moved to Colorado in 1955 and made Florida their winter residence since 1978. They were blessed with 2 daughters.
Joyce accepted Christ as her personal savior in 1956 and was baptized. She was the church organist for various churches for many years. The most recent churches she attended were Berea Baptist church of Palm Harbor, FL, and Arvada Baptist Church of Colorado.
Joyce had a great love for children and was a sponsor for several children through Compassion International. She also was very active with Samaritan's Purse & sent many filled shoeboxes for needy children at Christmas time. Joyce also loved sewing and making doll clothes for charity.
On September 1, 2022, Joyce died at Boulder Community Hospital at the age of 88 years and 7 months. Joyce is survived by her 4 Colorado grandchildren: Josh Betz (Christopher Brodine), Emily Betz (Tyler Gilbert), Aaron Oberndorf (Trinity Oberndorf), Sarah Oberndorf, Joyce's youngest brother Anthony Negen and his wife Karen, Renville MN; sister in law Margaret Negen, Willmar MN; sister in law Seitha Negen, Ontario Canada; nieces Diane Teeselink, Chisago MN; Debra Johnson, Monticello MN; nephews Dan Negen and wife Marlys, Prinsburg MN; Norbert Negen, Windom MN; Alton Negen, Raymond MN; Marlin Negen and wife Joan, Windom MN; John Negen and wife Carole, Raymond MN; Shane Negen and wife Megan, Wongarbon New South Wales Australia; Nicholas Negen and wife Rachel, Moline Michigan, plus many great nephews and nieces.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Robert Tersteeg), her daughters (Susan Oberndorf & Paula Betz), her brothers (Virgil Negen & LeRoy Negen), and her nephew (Gary Negen).
