Joyce was born September 13, 1942 in Ellston, Iowa to parents, Bert and Florence (Jackson) Cone. She grew up in the Ellston/Creston area. She was married to Melvin E. Thompson for over 50 years, before he passed away in 2012.
Joyce loved her family and she is lovingly remembered by her children, Shelia Thompson, Kevin (Jill) Thompson and Ron Thompson; four grandchildren, Cheyenne (Tony) Vargas, Cory (Kelly) McElvogue, Branden Hamrick, and Tabitha Venenga; seven great grandchildren, Dylan, Gavin and Isabella Vargas, Hunter and Taylor Venenga, Kaiden and Korbin McElvogue; a brother, Raymond Cone as well as several nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin; her daughter, Teressa McElvogue; her brother, LeRoy Cone and her twin brother, Jerry Cone.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, in memory of Joyce. Online condolences are welcome at www. IlesCares.com.
