Obituary of Joyce Vath
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Veta Joyce Langford Vath on Thursday December 5th, 2024 at the age of 88. Joyce passed peacefully in her sleep under VITAS hospice care in Pensacola, Florida. She lived a full and adventurous life; born in Kearny, Nebraska on February 6th, 1936 to Lloyd and Helen (Nee Rice) Langford, and living the last three years with her son and daughter in law Perry & Ruth Vath in Pace, Florida, where she enjoyed being surrounded by her grand children as well as coloring and playing games with her great grand children.
Joyce was married to Richard Vath for over 50 years. Together they engaged in all aspects of show business from performing on Broadway in New York, to Hollywood, Hawaii, Jamaica, Canada, Ajijic, Mexico, and all points in between. Anybody who knew her would recognize her infectious smile, contagious laugh, and positive energy. She was always involved in helping others and known for her volunteer and charitable work.
She was preceded in meeting the Lord by her parents, Lloyd Langford and Helen Belcher, and her husband Richard Vath.
She is survived by her brother Dene Langford, her son Perry Vath, and innumerable grand children, great grand children, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Joyce's desire was to be cremated with no formal service because she didn't want her last performance to end that way - she always wanted to make people, especially children, smile.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in JoyceVath's name to:
Operation Smile, P.O. Box 758588, Topeka, KS 66675 or at operationsmile.org/smile
