Joyce Denell Collins Weeks, 82, of Rosepine, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026. Born on June 27, 1943, on Horse Branch, in Sugartown, LA, Joyce spent her life as a dedicated homemaker and caregiver for her in-laws, filling her days with love for her family and a passion for the simple pleasures in life.
Joyce had a zest for adventure and was known for her love of arrowhead hunting, hunting, and fishing. A wonderful cook, she cherished hosting family gatherings. She fondly recalled her childhood days spent catching crawfish with a string and a piece of bacon, fishing and swimming in Horse Branch and capturing lightning bugs in jars with her siblings. Joyce and her late husband, Reid, enjoyed the yearly hunting and camping trips to Fort Polk with family traveling all out west, and to Colorado for hunting trips. Creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Joyce's faith was an important part of her life; she was baptized on May 23, 2003, at Rosepine United Pentecostal Church by Brother Gary Bankson, a pastor she deeply admired and loved.
Her family meant everything to her. Joyce was a proud mother to her daughter, and she poured her heart into spoiling her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Her hard work extended to their farm, where she would feed and milk the cows, feed the chickens, pigs, and other animals, tend to her large gardens, and share the joys of rural life with those she loved. Friday nights were special occasions when the family would gather at a local restaurant for fried catfish, bringing warmth and joy to their lives.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Richardson and Alan "Bird" of Rosepine, LA; grandsons, Ty Alan Richardson and Jessie Reid Richardson and Morgan; great grandson, Reid Lyle Richardson; brothers, Donald Collins of DeRidder, LA, Kenneth Collins of Dry Creek, LA; sister, Barbara Johnson of Pitkin, LA; special nieces who were like daughters, Tammy Marshall and Robin Shaw and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Wallice Reid Weeks; father, Carl Collins; mother, Gladys Marie Johnson Collins Barmore; brother, Dean Collins; sisters, Vernice Betkey and Reba Wisby.
Joyce's family will honor her memory with a public viewing at Rosepine United Pentecostal Church on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 12:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. She will be laid to rest later that day at Walnut Hill Cemetery. Brother Gary Bankson and Brother Cole Weeks will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Ricky Smith, Travis Cooley, Bobby Cooley, Tommy Marshall, Beau Shell and Blaize Burgess. Honorary pallbearers will be Lane Carver, Lynn Weeks, Danny Owens, Jerome Trussell and Quinn Marshall.
Joyce's spirit will live on through the memories and stories shared by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be greatly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of her family and friendsTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
