Our mother Joyce Annette Wright, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 3, 2026 at the age of 82.
Joyce Wright was born in in 1943 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, one of seven children born to Edna Jeffrey and Otis C. Wright. From a young age, she knew one day she would be leaving Tulsa, Oklahoma one day because she dreamed of traveling. Through her life she's lived in different States before settling down.
She eventually settled down in Cleveland, Ohio working in housekeeping at Cleveland Clinic Hospital. Realizing she could always do better, she eventually became a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).
Finally, settling down in California, she would later use her medical skills as an on-call nurse taking care of the elderly and later devoted her time to caring for foster children.
She had a presence that could fill a every room she entered without saying anything. She loved to tell stories-often the same ones and somehow, they were just as funny and each time the story sounded new. That's what she will be remembered most for the stories about her childhood, her travels, her warmth, infectious smile and unforgettable charm.
Joyce Annette Wright is survived by her four children, Darryl D. Wright, Bonnie J. Wright, Jeffrey L. Wright and Sharitia L. Wright, her twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
The family of Joyce Annette Wright sincerely thank you for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
