Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 3, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia honoring the life of Joycelyn M. Friedman, 91, who passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.

A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia on Friday from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM.

A Rosary will be prayed by Pat Jareau and Cabrini Benoit at 11:00 AM on Friday.

Rev. Gregory Cormier will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Christine Friedman and Cabrini Benoit. Gift bearers will be Dakota Tuttle and Aubrey Prioux.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Joycelyn was born on December 9, 1933, in Breaux Bridge. She had a fulfilling career as an aide with the St. Martin Parish system and assisted the handicapped on the the school bus. She was an active member of the Ladies Altar Society and generously volunteered at the ARC of St. Martin, embodying a spirit of service and compassion. In her leisure time, she enjoyed aerobics at Irene's School of Dance, sewing, working in her yard, arts and crafts, and exploring local garage sales, all of which brought her much joy. Joycelyn's warm spirit and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Tucker Friedman (Kelly), Shelly Benoit (Leonard), Myra Tuttle (David), and Melinda Guidry (Terry); ten grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Friedman, Jr.; parents, Claude and Helen Degeyter Melancon; son, Ernest Friedman, III; and brother, Herman Melancon.

Pallbearers will be Tucker Friedman, Leonard Benoit, David Tuttle, Terry Guidry, Nick Friedman, and Brian Benoit.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cameron Angelle and Justin Tuttle.
