Joye Loreece (Wallis) Bohac, 88, of Skidmore, Texas, passed away Friday, December 27, 2024.
Joye was born July 16, 1936, in Sinton, Texas, to Reece Wallis and Bernice (Weeks) Wallis. She was a graduate of Sinton High School. In 1955, she married the love of her life, Willie B. Edward Bohac. She was a member of Adams Street Church of Christ in Beeville, Texas. Her role as a dedicated housewife and beloved mother brought her much joy.
In addition to her family commitments, Joye actively engaged with her community through her involvement with the Beeville Art Museum and loved being a substitute teacher. This participation not only highlighted her artistic spirit but reflected her desire to enrich the lives of those around her, showcasing the creativity she cherished. Her favorite hobbies were reading and collecting books, buying paintings and thrift shopping.
Joye was preceded in death by her parents, Reece and Bernice Wallis; sisters, Lola Bernice Pate and Wanda Sleighholm; brothers-in-law, Joe (Alice) Bohac and Jackie (Maude) Bohac; her husband, Willie B. Bohac in 2012; and her daughter, Brenda Kay Bohac Lewis in 2020.
Survivors include her sister, Beth Ermis of Mathis; children, Cynthia Bohac of Corpus Christi and Steven (Abylene) Bohac of Skidmore; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville with an inurnment ceremony at 11 o’clock Thursday morning, January 9, at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joye’s name may be made to the Adams Street Church of Christ.
