Jozef Stawiarski

Jozef Stawiarski, age 87 of Yorkville, IL passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. He was born on December 20, 1937 in Obidza, Poland the son of Jakub and Emila (Tomasiak) Stawiarski. Jozef was united in marriage in July 1960 to Elzbieta Olszewska and they spent the next 65 years happily together. Mr. Stawiarski was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Plano, IL. He was a Coal Miner for 25 years in Poland, before moving to the United States. He was then employed as a Masonry worker until his retirement. Jozef was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Jozef is survived by his wife, Elzbieta Stawiarska of Yorkville, IL; his children, Andrzej Stawiarski, Dorota (John) Mietus, and Rafal (Teresa) Stawiarski; his grandchildren, Mateusz, Sara, Nell, Maximilian, and Angelica; his great-grandchildren, Noah and Naomi; his seven siblings; also numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jakub and Emila Stawiarski. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 15, 2025 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1001 North Center Avenue, Plano, IL. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Bristol, IL. Friends may visit from 8:30 until 9:30 AM at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 West South Street, Plano, IL.
