Crecencio Mata Obituary
Crecencio was united in marriage to Maria Cadena on June 21, 1967 and they have spent the next 58 years happily together. He was employed for many years by a local manufacturing company as a machine operator until his retirement. Crecencio was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Plano, IL. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
Crecencio is survived by his wife, Maria Mata of Plano, IL; his children, Gloria (Saul) Mata, Maria (Francisco) Salcedo, Gerardo (Mari) Mata, Saul (Lizeth) Mata, Isela Vazquez, and Sonia Cadena; his grandchildren, Nataly Mata, Bryan Valles, Jackie Salcedo, Loren Vazquez, Diego Vazquez, Saul Valles Jr., Isaac Vazquez, Elizabeth Vazquez, Ivan Valles, and Melissa Mata; his siblings, Valente Mata, Rosa Ocon, and Socorro Mata; as well as his many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Maria Luisa Mata; his siblings, Felix Mata and Maria Mendez; and his son-in-law, Alberto Vazquez.
A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1001 North Center Avenue, Plano, IL. Interment will follow in Little Rock Township Cemetery in Plano, IL.
Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 West South Street, Plano, IL.
