Jozefa Maciorowski

Jozefa Maciorowski passed away peacefully in Downers Grove on April 1, 2025, at the age of 90. She was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and beloved great-grandmother.
Born in Skorowo, Poland, Jozefa endured the hardships of war, the challenges of migration, and the uncertainty of a global pandemic. Through it all, she remained a pillar of strength and love, always putting her family first.
Jozefa is survived by her children, Zofia (George) Cygan, Wieslaw (Helen) Maciorowski, and Robert (Margaret) Maciorowski; her grandchildren, Peter (Jamie) Cygan, Greg Cygan, Dorothy Cygan, Angeline (Nick) Maciorowski, Bennett Maciorowski, Amanda Maciorowski, and Michael Maciorowski; and her great-grandchild, Penelope Cygan. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kazimierz Maciorowski; her parents, Maria and Jozef Naranowicz; and her siblings Waclaw, Janina, Stanislawa, Halina, Genovefa, Franciszka, Antoni, Leokadia.
Her grandchildren will always remember her as a strong and loving Babcia, who filled their lives with warmth and wisdom. Some of their fondest memories are of spending time in her garden, picking ripe tomatoes and black currants, and listening to her stories - each one a testament to her resilience and kindness.
Jozefa was an accomplished seamstress, creating beautiful gowns with meticulous care. She was also a dedicated member of St. Cyril in Lemont, where she found community and faith.
Visitation will be Monday, April 7th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave. Darien. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 8th at 9:15 with prayers beginning at the funeral home followed by a procession to SS. Cyril & Methodius Church in Lemont for a 10:00 am mass, officiated by Fr. Valdi. Int. Resurrection Cemetery.
