J P Hess, 94, Oxford, Florida went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 4, 2025 at Buffalo Crossing Health and Rehabilitation in The Villages, Florida. J P was born on November 6, 1930 in Lebanon, Virginia to his parents George Washington Hess and Maggie (Meade) Hess.
J P and his loving wife Betty moved to Oxford, Florida in 1985 from Fulton, Maryland. He was the owner of Hess Custom Home Builders in Fulton, Maryland. J P was of the Christian faith and attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Oxford, Florida. He loved to take care of his lawn and was proud of the way it looked when friends and family would visit.
He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years: Betty Hess of Oxford, FL; a son: Ronald G. Hess and his wife Susan of Oxford, FL; a daughter: Phyllis G. Holton of Fruitland Park, FL; five grandchildren: Tabitha Ann Sheets, Cory Gene Hess, Jennifer Diane Huff, Erin T. Mariano, M.D. and Brian K. Holton; ten great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
J P was preceded in death by his parents, 11 brothers and sisters, Marvin Hess, Bertha (Hess) Dye, Vada (Hess) Jackson, Eula (Hess) Yates, Ivan Hess, Beulah (Hess) Dye, Woodrow Hess, Hazel (Hess)Miller, Elizabeth (Hess) King, Jack Hess, Ruby (Hess) Grills and a very special grandchild Teresa Dianne Holton.
Graveside Services will take place at a later date at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Leesburg, Florida.

My heart breaks for the family. JP and Betty were always so sweet to me. I loved going on vacation with mom (Sandra) and grandpa (Woodrow) to visit JP and Betty. They always took the time to take me somewhere special.
