Juan Jonathan Barbosa-Gomez, age 31, passed away on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024. Known for his tireless work ethic and versatility, Juan was a true jack of all trades, moving effortlessly from landscaping to culinary arts. But beyond his skills, Juan was cherished as a great friend to many. His infectious humor, spirited pranks, and unparalleled gift for lifting spirits endeared him to all who crossed his path. Juan had a remarkable ability to show care and compassion, always prioritizing others above himself. His larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born on November 21st, 1992, in Park Ridge, Juan spent his formative years attending Lyon Elementary in Glenview and later Rondout School in Rondout. He graduated from Libertyville High School with the class of 2011 and furthered his education at the College of Lake County.
Juan is survived by his loving parents, Alma Leticia Gomez, Fernando Barbosa-Gaytan, and stepfather Juan Hernandez, as well as his beloved 2-year-old son, Forest Fernando Barbosa. He is also survived by his siblings Angelica, Michael, and Gloria, and will be deeply missed by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Juan F. and Matilde P. Gomez, and paternal grandparents, Fernando Barbosa and Epifania Gaytan.
Though his time with us was too brief, Juan leaves behind a legacy that will endure in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have shared in his life.

Juan Jonathan Barbosa-Gómez, de 31 años, falleció el martes 16 de julio de 2024. Conocido por su incansable ética de trabajo y versatilidad, Juan era un verdadero experto en todos los oficios, pasando sin esfuerzo del paisajismo a las artes culinarias. Pero más allá de sus habilidades, Juan era apreciado como un gran amigo para muchos. Su humor contagioso, sus bromas enérgicas y su don incomparable para levantar el ánimo le granjearon el cariño de todos los que se cruzaron en su camino. Juan tenía una notable habilidad para mostrar cuidado y compasión, siempre priorizando a los demás por encima de sí mismo. Su gran personalidad será profundamente extrañada por todos los que lo conocieron.
