Juan Antonio Peña Barron, 89, of Evans, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 29, 1936, in Mexico to Antonio Peña and Manuela Barron.
Juan will be remembered as a resilient, resourceful, and deeply loving man. His kindness and warmth made it easy for everyone who met him to love him. A self-taught handyman, he enjoyed tinkering with cars and fixing things around the house, always finding creative solutions. Having lived through the Great Depression, Juan learned the value of hard work, frugality, and resourcefulness-never letting anything go to waste.
He had a special love for the outdoors, especially his garden, where he nurtured vegetables and flowers with a green thumb that seemed to make everything he planted flourish. Above all, Juan cherished time with his family. He found his greatest joy in the presence of his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will forever treasure the love and wisdom he shared.
Juan and his wife, Genoveva's love for people was unmatched, they took care of anyone that needed it; whether it was needing work, clothes or food. If they could not help them, they would drive them to find work or shelter.
Juan is survived by his children, Juan Antonio (Rosario) Peña Martinez, Juan Antonio Peña Jr., Alma Delia Peña, Manuala Peña, Rachel Peña, Gabriel (Maria) Peña, Esmeralda (Jose) Villegas, Marivelle Christina Peña; thirteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; siblings, Hermelinda Peña Barron, Vida Peña Barron and a large extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Genoveva; grandchildren, Mark Anthony Peña, Mikayla Denise Peña, Angel Rey David Villegas, Pedro Jose Villegas; great grandchild, Anastasia Amani Salcido Peña ; and his parents.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, followed by the recitation of the Rosary at Lighthouse Family Mortuary, 3600 W. 22nd St., Greeley, Colorado. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Greeley, Colorado.
