Con profundo dolor, pero con inmenso agradecimiento por una vida plena y llena de amor, anunciamos el fallecimiento de Juan Eguia Orozco, cariñosamente conocido como Papi Juan y recordado con ternura por muchos como El Sordo. Falleció en paz el 1 de agosto de 2025, en Sherman, Texas, a la edad de 84 años.

Juan nació el 24 de marzo de 1941 en Matamoros, Tamaulipas, México, hijo de Pedro Eguia y María Isabel Orozco. Fue un esposo devoto para Celia Rodríguez Padrón, y un orgulloso padre de Leticia, Ramón, Roberto, Isabel y Juan Eguia. Su legado continúa vivo en el amor de sus 17 nietos y 22 bisnietos, quienes fueron una fuente inmensa de alegría para él y a quienes amó profundamente.

Hombre de carácter firme, corazón generoso y espíritu alegre, Juan fue el pilar de su familia. Era conocido por su calidez, su inquebrantable amor por los suyos y su particular sentido del humor. Disfrutaba de los placeres sencillos: escuchar música o la radio, contar historias de su juventud, hacer reír a sus nietos con sus bromas y frases inolvidables como: "Juan Eguia Orozco cuando comó no conozco."

Tenía un don único para dar apodos cariñosos que hacían sentir especiales a quienes los recibían: "Chabelita," "mi chaparrita," "mi campeón," "mi bebé," "mi orgullo," "mi adoración." Su legado también vive en las memorias de su acordeón, los paseos en su Impala beige del '66, y las anécdotas que seguirán contándose por generaciones.

Le sobreviven su amada esposa Celia, sus hijos, nietos, bisnietos, y su hermano Eduardo Eguia. Lo precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Pedro y María Isabel, y sus hermanos Griselda, Miguel, María de Lourdes y María.

Los servicios funerarios se llevarán a cabo el jueves 7 de agosto de 2025, de 6:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m., en Waldo Funeral Home, en Sherman, TX. La misa católica en celebración de su vida se realizará el viernes 8 de agosto de 2025, a la 1:00 p.m., en la Iglesia Católica de Santa Ana (St. Anne's Catholic Church).

La vida de Juan estuvo marcada por la risa, la música, el amor y la entrega incondicional a su familia. Deja tras de sí un legado de fortaleza, historias entrañables y un amor sincero que vivirá por siempre en los corazones de quienes tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo.

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Juan Eguia Orozco, affectionately known as Papi Juan and lovingly remembered by many as El Sordo. He passed away peacefully on August 1st, 2025, in Sherman, Texas, at the age of 84.

Juan was born on March 24, 1941, in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Pedro Eguia and Maria Isabel Orozco. He was a devoted husband to Celia Rodriguez Padron and a proud father to Leticia Eguia, Ramon Eguia, Roberto Eguia, Isabel Eguia, and Juan Eguia. His love and legacy continue through his 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and whom he cherished deeply.

A man of unwavering love, strength, and humor, Juan was the heart of his family. He was known for his warm personality, his deep devotion to his loved ones, and his playful spirit. He found joy in simple things-listening to music and the radio, telling stories of his younger years, joking with his grandchildren, and sharing his famous sayings like "Juan Orozco cuando comó no conozco."

He had a gift for giving everyone a nickname, each one filled with affection and meaning-"Chabelita," "mi chaparrita," "mi campeón," "mi bebé," "mi orgullo," "mi adoración"-just a few of the loving names he used that brought smiles and made everyone feel special. His stories about playing his accordion and taking his children, nieces, and nephews for rides in his beige 1966 Impala are family treasures that will be told for generations.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Celia, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his brother Eduardo Eguia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Maria Isabel, and siblings Griselda, Miguel, Maria de Lourdes, and Maria.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 7th, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, TX. A Catholic Mass in celebration of his life will be held on Friday, August 8th, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church.

Juan's life was filled with laughter, love, music, and devotion. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, storytelling, and affection that will forever echo in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
