Juan "Pelon" Ortiz III was born on December 11, 1982, in Weslaco, Texas. He passed away on March 8, 2025, at the age of 42. He was a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana for 10 years.
Juan is the beloved son of Angela Y. Martinez; stepson to Hugo Vasquez; and treasured brother of Brooke Brightmon. His fur baby, Mister Krok, was a source of immense joy in his life. He was loved by all including many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Juan's journey through life was marked by illness, starting from birth until the day he passed. He went through so much and fought so hard to maintain life and to bring joy and happiness to others. Unfortunately, because of illness he was unable to have children of his own, so he took the role of a pseudo father/uncle figure to many children of friends and family. He loved and cherished every one of them as his own.
Juan's interests were as vibrant and diverse as his personality. He had many passions, one of which was attending barber school but was unable to pursue his passion due to illness. He also loved art in the form of coloring; it was an outlet for him. His love for the thrill of the casino was matched only by his love for good food, which he enjoyed even more in the company of family and friends. Juan's big heart was not just seen by his family and friends; he was always ready to lend a hand to those in need, embodying the very essence of selflessness.
To have known Juan was to have known a man who lived life to the fullest, who cherished every moment, and who made the world a better place simply by being in it. His absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have been part of his journey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home in Wharton, Texas. A memorial service will begin at 10:00. Memories and condolences may be expressed at www.AudbonFuneralHome.com
