Juan Miguel Tamez was born to his wonderful parents Marci Duty & Juan Tamez on August 14, 1986. From the beginning Juan was raised to be selfless, caring, and kind. He had the biggest heart and the most contagious smile and laugh. A few of our favorite memories of him as a child were when he was learning his five senses and Marci, his mom, said he was really hungry and he expressed, "the spaghetti sounds good to my nose." He was around two or three years old at the time. We have so many childhood memories of him. His dad remembers the one where he was in the bathtub. He was walking by and Jay was going, "ARRRR-ARRRRUHHHH ARRRR-ARRRRUHHHH ARRRR-ARRRRUHH" and his dad goes, "Why are you saying ARRRR-ARRRRUHHHH, it's ARR" (referring to the letter R in the alphabet) and Jay responded, "Well Mrs. Jordan says it's ARRRR-ARRRRUHHHH". It was a really goofy moment because he was repeating it in his teachers accent. When Jay first learned that his mom, Marci, couldn't see he took her fingers and put them on the tv screen and said "look momma, preeetty dress!!" She imagined he was looking at a beautiful princess dress. Since the time he could do things pretty good around the age of 4 or 5 he started trying to guide you, to help you, "oh no, walk this way – walk this way." We remember he went to the store with his uncle (his dads brother Michael) and he was maybe 4 years old and his uncle had lost his way and couldn't find his way home. Jay didn't know the difference between left and right yet but he knew how to tell his uncle "go this way- go this way- this way. No, you've gone too far, go back" etc. and Jay got him home. He even told Marlyn she needed tattoos by her thumbs to remind her which is left and which is right. The helpfulness started at such an early age. There was a time that he got on the Dart van with his mom and a lady was getting on with her walker and he left just to help her. The lady was just so surprised and expressed, "oh you are so good! So helpful!". There's too many memories to share! He was so helpful and wonderful. From an early age to now, Jay always expressed how Jehovah was so good to him in his best moments.
As a child he was selected to give a talk at Kingdom Hall and his mom wrote the introduction and he would read the verses in Proverbs Chapter 31 vs 10-31. He did it in front of the whole congregation. He read the whole scripture. He was very brave. One day Jay and his grandfather had the same talk and his grandfather gave it in Spanish and he gave it in english based on Acts Chapter 5. Very recently, when a friend of ours who was blind was giving her first part in a meeting, Jay and his mom tuned in on zoom and Jay said, "Watch! I'm gonna do this bible reading!" And he pulled up the bible and started reading it. He was such a wonderful son for that. Very considerate. Even after all of these years he made sure to stay near and dear to his families beliefs. He would always tell his mom, "Mom, I'm gonna be there in Paradise with you. Don't worry mom, I'm gonna be there." He would say that to her so many times.
If you had the chance to meet and be around him you definitely felt his goofy presence and an immense amount of love. Those who knew him knew how much he loved singing, performing, DJ-ing, and attending all of his favorite shows, whether that be dancing his heart out to DJ Snake or singing his heart out to Intocable with his Sanchez family. Another passion of his was playing soccer, both indoor and outdoor. He had such a love for the game. Arsenal and Madrid were the teams that had him yelling at the edge of his seat. He loved watching sports so much, he loved talking football with Poppa John "how 'bout them Cowboys!!". And loved talking soccer with his Poppa Sanchez whenever they both got home from work and you can't forget his love for the Dallas Mavericks. Aside from playing sports, he loved playing videos games so much with his family and friends. 3LUSiV3 forever. Juan found his rightful place with his job at UPS, where he was very well known by the drivers and so loved. He was a driver with the company for almost 5 years. He loved getting the chance to be out in the elements all day, listening to music, and dancing your packages all the way to the porch. He spent the entire day on the phone with his fellow UPS brothers joking throughout the day, singing to each other and giving each other brotherly advice. They truly became a family. He was so dedicated and hard working, all the way to the end.
He is survived by his parents Marcie and John and their spouses Dan and Julie, his beloved sister Nicole, his niece Sophia, and nephew Ritchie; Juan is also survived by his maternal grandparents Lopez and paternal grandmother Gloria Tamez. He also leaves behind his aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends and the love of his life Marlyn Sanchez and their furbaby Trunks (who sends his dad lots of BESOS all the way to Paradise).
Knowing him and being loved by him was an honor and it's something we must cherish always. He will be so missed. See you in Paradise!
