Fountaintown, Indiana – Juana Marilyn Jarvis, 93, formerly of Rockville, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville.
She was born December 13, 1931, in
Rockville, Indiana, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Marvin Swaim and Mary Coleman Swaim. On March 4, 1950, she married Barton Rex Jarvis in Rockville. They shared 49 wonderful years of marriage before his passing on May 11, 1999.
She is survived by her son, Michael Barton (Carmen) Jarvis of Fountaintown; her daughter, Rhonda Kay Livengood of Rockville; and her sister, Donna Marlene Jones of Franklin. She was the proud grandmother of Benjamin (Lainey) Jarvis of New Palestine, Barton (Kelsi) Jarvis of Fishers, and Brian (Laura) Jarvis of Fishers, and the adoring great-grandmother of Brayden, Blake, Brynlee, Ellie, and Crew Jarvis.
Marilyn was a 1949 graduate of Rockville High School and retired from the United States Postal Service with 21 years of service as postmaster at the Judson Post Office. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, she actively participated in her church community by teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Sandcreek Church, as well as contributing to the ladies' group. In her later years, she attended the Community Church of Fountaintown.
Her generosity was evident through her support of causes like the Amvets Clothe a Child program, and she cherished her time with the Morristown Senior Citizens. Marilyn's passions included dancing, reading, baking, tending to her flowers, and caring for her home. Above all, she deeply valued her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, with Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation is 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Gooch Funeral Home.
