Juana Aida Reyes, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025, at the age of 91. Juana was born on February 8, 1934, in Algarrobo, Camagüey, Cuba and her life was a testament to the strength, wisdom, and unwavering love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her. Juana would sacrifice all her time for her children and others. Her heart of gold was selfless and totally devoted to her family.
Early Life and Family
She was the cherished daughter of Angel Sanchez and Emilia Benitez. From a young age, she exhibited a remarkable sense of compassion and responsibility, traits that would define her throughout her life.
Marriage and Family Life
Juana married the love of her life, Juan Antonio Reyes, in 1957. Together, they built a loving home filled with the warmth of family. Juana was a devoted mother and mother-in-law to Rene and Ligiana, Rosalina and Jorge, Rolando and Anna. Juana’s children were the center of her world, and she instilled in them the values of hard work, perseverance, and compassion.
Juana's love for her family extended to her grandchildren (Jenny, Daniel, Vanessa, David and Cristina) and great-grandchildren (Jackson, Jacob, Hugo and Lina), who adored their "Abuela" and cherished the countless memories made in her loving presence. She was the heart and soul of family gatherings, always ensuring that everyone felt loved, welcomed, and were well-fed.
Passions and Hobbies
Juana had a zest for life and her love of sewing kept her vibrant and engaged. She found peace and joy creating beautiful heirloom dresses for her granddaughters and countless other babies. Juana also loved cooking, and her culinary skills were legendary among family and friends.
Legacy and Remembrance
Juana Aida Reyes leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering dedication to her family. She will be remembered for her kind heart, resilient spirit, and the countless lives she touched with her generosity and compassion.
Juana’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will carry her memories in their hearts forever. Her life was a beautiful testament to the power of love and the importance of family, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, 11:00 am at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
