After graduating in 1997 she worked as a licensed Social Worker for HRA and Volunteers of America. In her later years she worked as a member of the community renewal team, and as a Senior Service Aid.
Juanita retired and spent her time in Hartford Connecticut, with friends and family. She enjoyed attending events in her senior community, crafting, and updates on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Juanita was predeceased by her husband Bobby Barnes, her sons; Robert A. Barnes and Michael H. Barnes, her daughter-inlaw; Kisha Barnes and grandsons; Saleek Dukes Barnes and Prince Stoney, her brothers; Sam Smalls and Thomas Smalls.

To know her was to love her. She always made a point to show you that you mattered to her. She was a great friend to my mother and a wonderful Godmother to my sister, Crystal. We spent lots of time with her family growing up and my memories are fond. She will be forever in my heart. SIP
