Juanita Caldwell

Juanita (Tipton) Caldwell, 84, of Indian Land, South Carolina (formerly of Kenova, West Virginia), passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, at Novant Hospital in Indian Land, following a prolonged illness.

Born and raised in Mars Hill, North Carolina, Juanita's life was a reflection of her deep faith, steadfast love, and quiet strength. She was devoted to her family and community, known for her warm heart, strong work ethic, and unwavering belief in the goodness of others.

For many years, Juanita worked as a professional seamstress-first with Corbin Factory in Ceredo, WV, and later with Huntington Sewing Factory in Huntington, WV. After retirement, she continued her commitment to helping others by working in the Wayne County school system as a custodian at Ceredo-Kenova Middle School, where she took pride in her work and enjoyed being part of a school community that she loved dearly.

Above all else, Juanita loved the Lord. Her faith was the foundation of her life and the source of her enduring kindness and resilience. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend-someone whose quiet presence brought peace and comfort to all who knew her.

Juanita was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Roger Arlington Caldwell; her oldest daughter, Rhonda Lynn; her parents, Mary Elizabeth McIntosh and Oscar Tipton; and her siblings, James Tipton, Doris Honeycutt, Robbie Howard, Rebecca Dingess, and Betty Lanning.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Sonya Caldwell Hall, and her husband, Stos, of Indian Land, SC; and her brothers, Harold Tipton, Junior Tipton, and Charles Tipton.

Juanita's legacy of love continues through her five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren: Erin Burns of Washington, DC, her husband Dave Keffer and their children Margot Elliot Burns-Keffer and Arthur Leonard Burns-Keffer; Andy Burns of Huntington, WV, his wife Taylor (Yoho) Burns and their children Bennett David Burns and Emma Grace Burns; Lauren Hall of Florence, SC, her husband Jack Thedinga and their children Phoenix Wilder Thedinga and Fallon Rae Thedinga; Tyler Hall of Orlando, FL; and Brandi (McGuire) Browder (Brian) of Eaton, OH, and her children Parker Arlington Houk, Ryland Matthew Houk, Piper Lee Browder, and stepdaughter Peyton Elizabeth Browder.

Following the passing of her husband, Juanita relocated to Indian Land, SC, where she was lovingly cared for by her daughter and son-in-law. Though her final months were marked by declining health, Juanita's faith never wavered, and her heart remained full of gratitude and grace.

In keeping with Juanita's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. The family asks for your prayers of strength and comfort during this difficult time and takes solace in knowing that she is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband Roger and daughter Rhonda.
