Juanita Mae Darland, age 93, of Cimarron, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025. Born on December 4, 1931, in Lamar, Colorado, she was the only daughter of the late Clyde and Florence Cathcart.

Juanita grew up in Holly, Colorado and graduated from Holly High School in 1950. She married Richard Eugene "Gene" Darland in June, 1950. They made their home in Syracuse and shared sixty-six years together until his passing in 2016. A lifelong learner, Juanita enjoyed gardening, reading, arts and crafts, camping, and cooking. Juanita was a talented artist and filled several books with pencil and ink drawings. She worked at the Valley State Bank in Syracuse, Kansas from 1969 to 1994. She also helped run the family custom harvest business for several years.

Juanita is survived by her children, Rachael Kelli Darland of Montezuma, Renee (Patrick) Blanchard of Loveland, Colorado, and Debra (Leon) Voeltz of Cimarron; six granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren. She was pre deceased by her husband, Gene and brothers Harold, Ivan, and Paul Cathcart

A Celebration of Juanita's life will be announced at a later date. There is no visitation as cremation has taken place. A memorial service for Juanita will be held at the Shepherd's Center, 101 Cedar Ridge Drive, in Cimarron on Saturday, September 6th at 10:30 A.M. The family suggests donations in her memory to the Cimarron Public Library or the Over 50 Center in Cimarron. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com
