Juanita Anthony Davis, 90, Remembered for Her

Warmth, Wisdom, and Culinary Talent

Juanita Anthony Davis, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend,

passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, at the age of 90. Known for her accomplished

skills in the kitchen and her radiant sense of humor, Juanita touched countless lives with

her generosity, wit, and enduring spirit.

Born with a love of learning, Juanita earned her specialist degree in library science-an

achievement that marked the beginning of a remarkable career as a librarian. For more

than twenty-five years, she served the Hattiesburg Public School System, fostering

curiosity and a passion for reading in generations of students. Her quiet guidance and

dedication helped shape the hearts and minds of all who passed through her library

doors.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Juanita was a true artist in the kitchen. Her

meals were more than sustenance; they were acts of love, bringing family and friends

together over laughter-filled tables. Her humor was legendary, lighting up every room

and comforting many during both joyous and challenging times.

Juanita's legacy of love and resilience lives on in her family. She was blessed with two

precious daughters, Nancy Deschamp (Clyde) and Betty Pryor (Johnny). She leaves

behind five adored grandchildren: David Deschamp (Allison), Christopher Deschamp,

Catherine Flack (Wilson), James Pryor, and Jessie Pryor (Olivia). Her joy multiplied with

the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Sylas Deschamp, Poppy Deschamp, and Everit

Flack, who will carry forward her memory and gentle wisdom.

A visitation to honor Juanita's life will be held on Friday, July 25th, from 10:00 a.m. to

12:00 p.m., followed by interment at Pine Bluff Cemetery in Hazlehurst, Mississippi.

Friends and family are invited to share in remembering a woman whose laughter and

kindness filled their lives with light.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Sloan

Kettering Cancer Research Center, continuing Juanita's legacy of helping others.

Juanita Anthony Davis will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her warmth,

her laughter, and her unwavering love.
