Juanita Fowler Fitzpatrick Neal, age 93, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025. Born in 1932 in Troy, North Carolina, to Addie Mae and Johnny Dismukes, Juanita grew up in a close-knit home with her brother, sister, and a large extended family that shaped her lifelong devotion to faith and community.
In 1951, Juanita met the first love of her life, Bob Fowler. They married in October of 1953 and built a joyful life together, raising three children in a home filled with love and laughter. Bob's passing in 1984 was a profound loss, but Juanita's journey continued with grace. She later found love again with Don Fitzpatrick, whom she married in 1988. Their 16 years together were a blessing until Don's passing in 2004. In 2009, Juanita married Herman Neal, with whom she shared cherished memories until his passing in 2022.
A gifted hairdresser for over 60 years, Juanita transformed her basement into a home beauty shop so she could be close to her children while pursuing her passion. Her caring nature and love for children led her into a second career as a kindergarten teacher's assistant, thanks to the encouragement of a client who recognized her nurturing spirit. Her legendary partnership with Kathy Angel lasted 23 years touching the lives of countless young students with unconditional love, creativity, and compassion.
Juanita was a devoted member of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church for more than six decades. She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, cared for the littlest ones in the nursery, and enthusiastically chaperoned youth activities. Her commitment to service and faith was unwavering and deeply felt by everyone around her.
Bright, stylish, and full of zest, Juanita's favorite color was yellow - a perfect reflection of her sunny personality. She adored UNC Tar Heel basketball and proudly attended her first live game at age 90. Always immaculately dressed, she loved a bit of sparkle and embraced each day with humor, joy, and fierce love for her family and friends. With a loyal circle of friendships spanning more than 70 years, she remained a steady and vibrant presence in the lives of those she cared for.
Juanita was preceded in death by her beloved son, Scott Fowler. She is survived by her children Dan Fowler (Joan) and Susan Brelewski (Ingo "Ski"); grandchildren Brandon Brelewski, Kiersten Kingry (Ryan), Collin Brelewski (Gina), and Payton Badders (Robby); and great-grandchildren Mason Brelewski, Rylie and Holden Kingry, and Dawson and Hudson Badders.
A celebration of Juanita's life will be held at Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 12:00 PM. Visitation will take place beforehand in the McDowell Fellowship Hall beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the NC

Juanita's legacy of kindness, faith, and radiant warmth will live on in every life she touched.
