Mary Louise McDonald Conyers, beloved mother, grandmother, teacher, and lifelong musician, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on November 17, 1932, in Carthage, North Carolina, she was the cherished daughter of D. Frank McDonald and Lennie Baxley McDonald.

Gifted with a natural love of music, Mary Louise earned her Bachelor of Music from Greensboro College before continuing her studies at Columbia University in New York. Her talent and passion led her to a life devoted to teaching. She married Marion James Conyers Jr. of Florence, South Carolina, and together they built a home centered on family, learning, and the arts.

For 35 years, Mary Louise taught elementary music in Prince George's County, Maryland, where she became known for her warmth and her deep commitment to excellence. She introduced thousands of children to the joy of music, and after retiring from public schools, she continued teaching private voice and piano for nearly twenty years. Her holiday and end-of-year recitals became cherished milestones for her students and their families.

Her greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to Susan Bello and Catherine Blalock, and the adored "Gran Gran" to her grandchildren, Tyler and Annie. She treasured every moment with them-from shopping trips to special lunches-and filled their lives with warmth, humor, and unconditional love.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Bello (Mike Threlfall) and Catherine Blalock (John Blalock); and by her grandchildren, Tyler Blalock and Annie Blalock.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion James Conyers Jr., and by her parents.

Her family will forever treasure her remarkable life and the many ways she shared her gifts with them.

A graveside service will be held, Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Buffalo cemetery ( 1333 Carthage Street, Sanford, NC 27330) with Rev. Robert Thomas officiating.
