Juanita Dodd Hooker

Juanita Dodd Hooker, 90, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

A devoted member of Red Bank Baptist Church, Juanita lived a life of faith, service, and dedication to others. She was active in the church choir, taught Sunday School, and participated in numerous ministries including the Prime Timers, Prime Choir, and the Women Awareness Mission group.

Juanita earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Tennessee Polytechnic Institute (T.P.I.) and went on to devote 38 years to teaching. She began her career in Graysville, Tennessee, and later spent many years at Rivermont Elementary School in Chattanooga. Her love for education extended beyond the classroom-she was a proud member of the Hamilton County Education Association, the Tennessee Education Association (T.E.A.), and the National Education Association (N.E.A.).

Civically engaged, Juanita served with both the American Legion Auxiliary and the Kiwanis Club, always finding ways to give back to her community.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmy L. Hooker; her parents, Trewitt B. Dodd and Blanche Creasman Dodd; her sisters, Rochelle D. Womack and Patricia D. Whitener; and her brother, Wayne Dodd.

Survivors include her special niece, Janet Abernathy; brother, Trewhitt Timothy Dodd; and many other nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 12:00-2:00 pm Friday at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Friday in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Graysville, TN.
