In the stillness of the night on Friday evening, October 3, 2025, Juanita Wearren Jordan peacefully passed from The Willows Nursing Facility to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born on October 6, 1926, in Lancaster, Kentucky, to the late John and Margaret Jane Wearren. Juanita was just three days shy of her 100th birthday. The family had planned a celebration for her here on earth, but Jesus wanted her party in Heaven with Him. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Main Street Baptist Church for over sixty years, thirty of those serving as pianist for the children's department. Juanita was an alumna of Kentucky State University. She loved children and devoted her early career to teaching elementary school students. Later, she was employed at the Avon Army Depot for thirty years, proudly becoming the first African American woman to work there. An accomplished pianist, Juanita continued sharing her gift after retirement by teaching piano to young students just beginning to play. She was also an artist at heart, writing poetry, publishing a book of her poems, and blessing family members with her beautiful paintings. Faith, family, and love were the foundation of Juanita's life. She shared her faith openly and joyfully with everyone she met, often reminding those around her to "love one another." She adored her family and church community dearly. As her health declined, she was saddened when she couldn't attend church in person but found joy in knowing she had worshipped whenever she could. Juanita often spoke lovingly of her parents and brother, recalling how her mother encouraged them both to strive for excellence in everything they did. She cherished the memories of her brother, an airline pilot, taking the family on adventures in the sky. In her later years, she was blessed with a special spiritual son, Bruce Crump whose love and care brought her great comfort. She also shared a close bond with her great-nieces Carolyn, Lynda, and Sharon, who deeply cherished her wisdom, warmth, and unwavering faith. Juanita was truly an inspiration to all who met her. Her life was a testament to grace, perseverance, and love- a legacy that will live on through the many lives she touched. Juanita was preceded in death by her father, John Wearren; mother, Margaret Jane Wearren; and brother, Immanuel Wearren. She is survived by her spiritual son, Bruce (Alma) Crump; nieces, Carolyn (James) Taylor, Lynda (Rev. Randle) Bush, and Sharon (Earnest) Grady; nephews, John Robinson and Malcolm Robinson; a special friend, Rietta Turner; and a host of other relatives and friends who will cherish her memory. "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." - John 14:1–3 (KJV)
