Juanita Parent Starks, age 94 a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
Juanita was born on December 12, 1928, and graduated from Istrouma High School. She worked for Fidelity Bank as a teller and for the Start Department of Education as an accountant where she retired. Her Faith was very important to her, she was a member of St. Gerard Church for 30+ years and then a member of 30+ years at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She served as a Eucharistic minister, a member of the prayer chapel and numerous other groups. Juanita also loved gardening, cooking and family gatherings.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jackie Darrell Starks; her parents, Alford and Elmina LeBlanc Parent; her sisters, Alice Parent, Marie Poole, Vera McGehee, and Hilda McClure; her brothers, Glennen Parent and Byron Parent; and her grandchildren, Sarah Beth Starks and Randy Burke Reynolds.
Juanita is survived by her daughters, Susan Diane Starks McKey (Jeff), Sharon McDonner (Tim), and Anita Lynne Terrio (Mark); her sons, Jackie Starks (Colleen), Jerry Starks (Gail), Jeff Stark (Nina), Michael Starks, and Greg Starks; her sister, Teresa Bonaventure; her grandchildren, Andrea Starks, Jaime Winter (Brett), Randi Alphonso (Scott), Kimberly Schneider (Chad), Carrie Reynolds, Christopher Starks, Kristen Starks, Brandon Starks (Annalee), Ryan Starks, Amie Prejean Chatman (Isreal), Court Prejean, Brian Prejean, April Sartin (Kevin), Fallon McKey, Amanda McKey, Calaih McKey, Ashley Starks, John Michael Starks, Emily Starks, Valerie Starks, Anna Ellingburg (Dustin), Brandy McDonner Jordan (Jeff), Sean McDonner, Aaron McDonner (Melissa), Rachel McDonner, Terri Starks, Brittany Starks, Jessica Starks, Matthew Terrio, Margaret Terrio, and Michael Terrio; her great-grandchildren: Nicholas Glover III (Brittaney), Georgia Darby, Christopher Rodriquez, Cameron Rodriquez, Casey Winter, Brooke Winter, Hannah Furr, Colt Alphonso, Chase Alphonso, Jack Schneider, Kailyn McWilliams, Aiden Holland, Ryker Danos, Alyse Starks, Berklee Starks, Zachary Prejean Chatman, MacKenzie Chatman, Anna-Kate Sartin, Emilie Sartin, Allie Sartin, Eden Sartin, Abbie Sartin, Eryn Sartin, River McKey, Ezra McKey, Kylie Walker, Reagan Walker, Kaitlin Ellingburg, Dylan Ellingburg, Juliet Jordan, Gavin McDonner, Charley McDonner, Wading Rain Starks, Brittany Rain Starks, Isabelle Provot, Noah Provot, and Forest Starks; and her great-great-grandchildren, Alyson Letellier and Nevaeh Glover.
The Family would like to give special thanks to the Central Fire Department and EMS Staff, the caring Staff at Ochsner Hospital at O’Neal Lane and the caring Staff at Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge.
Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. on Sunday, April 23, 2023, from 4pm to 7pm and will continue Monday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Road from 9:30 am until Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
