Judith Comstock Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home on Feb. 2, 2026.
Judith Ann Comstock, 80, of Merrillan, passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 31, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 18, 1945, in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, the daughter of Gloria and Cyrus Comstock.

Judy is survived by her brother Bill (Barb) Comstock and her sister Joanne Johnson; her children Tony Palchik, Tammy Palchik, David Hayes (Brenda), and Lori Booth (Tony); and her stepchildren Jenny Dwyer (Amanda) and Charlotte Henderson (Gary). She is also survived by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. She held a special place in her heart for her pets, Missy, Zena, and Wilbur.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her parents; her brother John Comstock; her brother-in-law Marvin Johnson; her brother-in-law Ray Berg; her late husband, Carrel Hayes; and her grandson, Brock Palchik. Judy's sister, Jean Berg, is also deeply missed. Their lifelong bond was strong, and the closeness of their passing reflects the love they shared.

Judy graduated from Alma Center High School in 1964 and later retired from the Belvidere Chrysler Assembly Plant. She enjoyed arts and crafts with her United Methodist Women's Group, traveling with her sister Joanne in search of the best garage sales and flea market finds, and tending to her flowers and garden. She worked at Comstock Strawberries and enjoyed going to church. She also took pride in staying active and was part of SilverSneakers. Known for her lively spirit, Judy was also proudly credited with cofounding the well-known 2-for-1 margaritas at Cisco's in Merrillan - a detail that made many smile and suited her perfectly.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Judith Ann Comstock, was held on Sunday, February 8th. Visitation held at 11am until 1pm, service will follow, at Merrillan United Methodist Church. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor her life, reflect on her legacy, and share memories of the love and kindness she gave to everyone around her. The service will include words of remembrance, music, and moments of reflection to celebrate the impact she had on her family and community.
