Judith Copeland Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home on Dec. 8, 2022.
Judith "Judy" Grace Hargrove Copeland, 82, of Kenner, Louisiana, entered heaven on December 3, 2022, after battling multiple health issues.
Judy was born on April 8, 1940, to Ernest and Jesse Hargrove in Oakdale, Louisiana. Judy loved medicine and worked with her uncle who was a physician, helping deliver babies as a teenager. She then attended and graduated from a business college in Alexandria. In her life, she had various professions including working in banks, doctors' offices, schools and eventually, serving as the President of Office World, Inc. in Alexandria.
Judy married Charles "Chuck" Edward Copeland, Sr. in 1962. Chuck was in the Air Force, so they spent their few years of marriage living in multiple places including Texas, Florida and Louisiana. In 1967, they adopted Michele Marlea Copeland Louviere and in 1970, they adopted Charles "Chas" Edward Copeland, Jr. Judy often said that adopting Michele and Chas were the most important and best decisions of her life. Judy and Chuck raised their children in Tullos and Urania, Louisiana.
Judy's relationship with Jesus was profoundly intimate. After losing her father when she was 14 and finding out that her mother had cancer, she promised God that she would spend her life serving Him daily if he would spare her mother's life. Her mother survived, and Judy kept her promise, loving and serving Jesus until her death. As she has moved around, she has been a part of many churches serving through playing the piano and singing, leading the youth group, teaching women's bible studies, and recently, helping her daughter with children's ministry at Crescent City Rock. She is beloved by so many connected to multiple churches, including Tullos First Baptist Church, Kingsville Baptist in Pineville, and Ascension Baptist in Gonzales. The last four years, she has attended Celebration Church in Kenner and Crescent City Rock Church in Metairie.
Judy is known by all who love her as being an excellent friend, listener, and giver. She has given sacrificially to countless local and international ministries. She has always had a beautiful garden and loves nature and adventures. Her greatest love started after her daughter Michele married James "Jim" Louviere and gave her two grandchildren, Marlea Grace and Joshua Paul Louviere. The last few years, she has been able to live and laugh daily with her beloved Marlea.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Otto Ernest and Jesse Ann Riser Hargrove; her husband Chuck Copeland, her siblings and spouses, Larry and Bobbye Hargrove, Thomas Hargrove, and Marlea "Molly" and A.L Davis. She is survived by her daughter, Michele Louviere, and son-in-law, Jim Louviere, and two grandchildren, Marlea and Joshua, who reside in Metairie, Louisiana. She is also survived by her son Chas, who resides in Tampa, Florida. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Cynthia Horne, Elaine Bacon, Chris Bacon, Suzanne Grafe, and Guy Davis, along with their families and countless friends.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers to honor Judy that you would consider donating to the benevolent fund of Crescent City Rock Church that helps local people in crisis with food and living expenses, or to Generation to Generation, an international mission that equips churches and ministries around the world in generational discipleship preparing them to fulfill the Great Commission. If you would like to donate in Judy's honor to Crescent City Rock, you can go to the Church GoFundMe: gf.me/u/y3msf9 or Cash App: $ccrcatjc. If you would like to donate in Judy's honor to Generation to Generation, you can go to www..g2gmandate.org/donate. Because of Judy's great love for God's word, her family would love if you could honor her on Saturday, December 17, 2022 by posting on social media your favorite scripture.
There will be a Celebration Worship Service honoring Judy's life at Tullos First Baptist Church on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 10 AM. The service will be followed that afternoon with a Graveside Service at 3 PM at Greenwood Memorial Park located at 2202 Military Hwy, Pineville, LA 71360, where her body will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Chuck.
7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. 8 And now the prize awaits me-the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing. (2 Timothy 4:7,8)
