Judith Ann "Judy" (Brown) DeMambro, age 83, of Ashby-formerly of Maynard and Falmouth-passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 18, 1942, in Somerville, MA, Judy was the beloved daughter of Walter and Rita (Lynch) Brown. She was one of eight children, the cherished middle sibling, with Walter, Ellen, Gerald, and Robert older, and Edward, Kevin, and Karen younger. Judy grew up in Watertown, MA, and graduated from Watertown High School in 1960.
At the age of 17, Judy met the love of her life, Anthony (Tony) J. DeMambro. The two married in September 1963 and shared 62 wonderful years together, raising three children: Anthony, Michelle, and Melissa.
Judy enjoyed a long and accomplished career as an executive secretary. She worked with several organizations, including Brandeis University-where she served as the International Student Coordinator-and Digital Equipment Corporation, where she spent 15 dedicated years. Later, she joined her husband at Yurie Systems in Landover, Maryland.
A natural caregiver, Judy's nurturing spirit was evident in every chapter of her life. As a teenager, she helped care for her younger siblings and cousins. While raising her own children, she ran a home daycare, and in retirement, she volunteered as a teacher's aide in the East Falmouth school system. Her volunteerism extended throughout the community: she served as a Girl Scout leader, supported the Maynard Band Program, and worked with both the Otis Civilian Advisory Council and the Massachusetts Military Support Foundation's Empowerment Center, especially in its children's room.
Judy and Tony were true soulmates. Their greatest joy was simply being together-taking car trips, antiquing, and exploring new places. Their adventures took them to all 50 states and countries like Ireland and Italy, where they traced their ancestral roots. Judy also had a passion for collecting depression glass, proudly sharing her collection with visitors to their Falmouth home.
Above all, Judy found her greatest joy in her family. She devoted her life to caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren. As "Nammie," she held a special place in the hearts of her grandchildren. She also loved to cook, and her lasagna, meatballs and Italian cookies were legendary among family and friends.
Judy is survived by her beloved husband, Tony; her son Anthony and his wife Mook of Groton; her daughters Michelle Sticklor and her husband Paul of Jaffrey, NH, and Melissa Woo and her husband Phillip of Chelmsford. She leaves behind six adored grandchildren: Carlton (Shannon) and Benjamin (Madelyn) Hoenshell, Jessica and Sydney Holmes, Daniel Woo, and Anthony DeMambro. She is also survived by three step-grandchildren-Katrina, Erica, and James-and their families, as well as four great-grandchildren: Riley, Cullen, Dylan, and Brooke.
Judy is also survived by her siblings: Ellen (and husband Frank Marini), Edward (and wife Ellen Brown), and Karen Cardinal, as well as her godchildren Kathleen Dupuis and Edward Brown.
She was predeceased by her parents, her mother-in-law Delfina DeMambro, and four of her siblings: Walter, Gerard, Robert, and Kevin.
Judy's love, laughter, and warmth will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
