Judith Lynn DeWees, 77 of Farmington, New Mexico passed from this life December 17, 2023. She was born September 9, 1946, in Alliance, Nebraska to William Earl Waldron and Mary Genevieve La Clair.

As the hope of Christ is the beginning and end, so is it the beginning and end of Judith (Judi) DeWees' earthly story, who was a true believer and active member of First Baptist Church in Farmington at the time of her passing. She's now dancing like David with the Lord, in the glorified body that she spoke of with great anticipation and joy.

If you ever knew Judi DeWees, you're likely aware that she didn't know a stranger and had a smile for everyone she met. Judi had many passions as she moved through life. In the professional world, she loved working in Special Education and as a librarian throughout multiple school districts across New Mexico. Any community she and her husband, Larry, settled in was blessed with her generous heart and hard-working spirit. Notably, in Farmington, Judi managed the concessions at FHS and volunteered as a Pink Lady at San Juan Regional Medical Center for many years, holding a deep protectiveness and care for every person she worked with.

Within her personal life, Judi was unfailing in her love and support of her husband, children, and grandchildren. There was not a football game, volleyball game, wrestling match, or track meet that she missed whether there was rain, sleet, or snow. She was always accompanied by her dogs, with Chaco and Chuska being her two companions during the later years of her life. Amidst her own battle with Multiple Sclerosis, she supported many MS foundations, organizations, and other individuals with the disease. The last decade found Judi trapped in a wheelchair, but many could tell you that she was not someone who sat idle. At home, Judi was surrounded by the various collections she compiled through the years including sunflowers, Native American art, black glass dishware, sheep, and many more which her loved ones now look on and remember her fondly. An avid reader and puzzle-solver, Judi's sharp mind and sharper wit kept her family on their toes. In recent years, she found great joy in riding up to Colorado with Larry and occasionally other family members or friends to see the colors change and witness the first good snow of the season. Judi understood the precious gift of time with those you love, taking every second she could to bless someone with her presence. And if you said you loved her, she'd reply with a grin, "I love you MORE."

Judith is preceded by her parents, William Earl Waldron and Mary Genevieve La Clair, brother Steven William Waldron, and her sister Joyce Elaine Lawrence. She is survived by her husband, Larry DeWees, sons Dallas DeWees (Daughter-In-Law Bridgette) and Denver DeWees (Daughter-In-Law Amelia), her brother John Waldron (Sister-In-Law Sue), and grandchildren Samantha DeWees, Chloee DeWees, Kaleb Slack, Bodee DeWees, and Katie Grace.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm at the First Baptist Church of Farmington, New Mexico on January 6th, 2024. Services will be officiated by Pastor Keith Berryman and Pastor Denver DeWees.
