Nicholas Dewees Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home - East Louisville on Dec. 2, 2025.
Nicholas Ryan Dewees, 36, of Mount Washington, KY, passed away on December 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Nick's greatest joy in life was being a devoted husband to Amanda and a proud father to their son, Nate. Everything he did, every decision, every sacrifice, every moment of joy, was centered around them. He was their steady place, their laughter, and their calm in every storm.
Nick served his community with honor as a Lieutenant with the Louisville Metro Police Department. He was deeply respected by those who worked beside him and by everyone whose life he touched, both in and out of uniform. His genuine heart, unwavering loyalty, sharp sense of humor, and calming presence made him someone people naturally gravitated toward. Nick lived life fully, embracing every moment with gratitude and purpose.
Some of his happiest days were spent watching Nate on the baseball and football fields, cheering him on with immeasurable pride. He loved playing golf with "the boys" and cherished every moment spent with friends and family. Those closest to him knew him as someone who showed up wholeheartedly, without hesitation, and with a selflessness that defined his character.
Nick and Amanda were high school sweethearts who shared nearly twenty years together. In that time, they built a life rooted in love, friendship, and unwavering support. To Amanda, he was not only a husband but her best friend and constant encourager. To Nate, he was a hero, a teacher, and his favorite person in the world.
Nick is survived by his loving wife, Amanda; his beloved son, Nathan "Nate"; his parents, Nelson "Bud" and Rebecca Dewees; his brothers, James (Katelin) Dewees and Christopher Dewees; his loving in-laws; his nieces and nephews; and the many friends who became family.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Ratterman Brothers, East Louisville (12900 Shelbyville Road, Louisville, KY 40243).
A funeral service will follow at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Chapel in the Woods (1407 Moser Rd, Louisville, KY 40299), with burial at Cave Hill Cemetery.
Nick will be remembered for the joy he brought into the world, the love he gave so freely, and the legacy of kindness, service, and devotion to family he leaves behind. His absence leaves a profound void not only for his family, but for the many friends, colleagues, and members of the community who were better because of him. His memory will be carried forever in the hearts of all who loved him.
Those wishing to help support his family, donations can be made to the Louisville Metro Police Foundation.
