Judith Dubose Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Waite Funeral Home Medina on Jan. 14, 2026.
Judith "Cookie" DuBose, 85, of Chippewa Lake, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Denison, Texas, Cookie grew up with a warmth and generosity that followed her throughout her life. She was best known by her nickname, a name that perfectly captured her sweet spirit, gentle humor, and the countless batches of chocolate chip cookies she baked for neighbors, friends, and anyone who walked through her door.

Cookie's life was shaped by her deep devotion to family. One of her greatest joys was becoming a mother to her daughter, Jill, a milestone she treasured. Later in life, her heart grew even fuller as she welcomed grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each one bringing her immense pride and happiness. She remembered every birthday, celebrated every milestone, and supported each member of her family with unwavering love.

A talented quilter and needlepoint artist, Cookie poured patience and creativity into everything she made, creating quilts and stitched pieces cherished by family and friends. Beyond her artistic talents, she completed several marathons and was a respected entrepreneur and business leader, accomplishments that reflected her strength, discipline, and drive.

Cookie is survived by her daughter, Jill (Smith) Ribley, and son-in-law Doug Ribley; her grandchildren Matt Ribley (wife Erica), Rebecca (Ribley) Gorski (husband Cody), and Josh Ribley; and her great-grandchildren Uriah, Gia, Elle, Evie, and Colson. She is also survived by her brothers, Tom Lee (wife Kathy) and Bill Lee (wife Cathy).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Bill Lee; her husband, Tracy DuBose; and Dan Smith, the father of her daughter.

A memorial service will be held later this year when all family members can gather to honor and celebrate her life.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to her beloved St. Paul's Church, 317 E. Liberty Street, Medina, Ohio 44256. If mailing a check, please write "Judith DuBose Memorial" in the memo line. If dropping off a check or cash at the church, write "Judith DuBose Memorial" on the envelope.
