Judith “Judy” Faye Brown DuVal of Westminster, MD passed away peacefully with her family on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

Born on August 31, 1940, in Washington D.C. Judy was the daughter of Harry Daniel Brown and Margaret LaVerne (Hutton) Sneed. She was married to the late George Wise DuVal Jr. She is survived by daughter Barbara Robins and husband Rick of Gainesville, GA, daughter Danielle DuVal of Westminster, MD, granddaughter Kelsye Robins of Gainesville, GA, granddog Tippy, dear friends, and loved ones she found later in life. Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter Danielle’s late partner Jeffrey Watkins, grandson Kyle Robins, and many beloved relatives and pets.

Judy was a unique woman with a wide array of talents and interests. She was raised in a family dedicated to service of country through the military and government. She studied Political Science. She had careers in politics and law enforcement. She was active in politics, working on local, state and national campaigns in Delaware and Pennsylvania. She worked in the Recorder of Deeds Office and was a Deputy Sheriff in Bucks County, PA. She owned her own catering company and some of her clients were her friends and colleagues in Bucks County government. When she retired from County government, she obtained a realtor license. She was successful in real estate until she finally retired.

Judy had a wide variety of interests. She loved books, crossword puzzles, art, music, cooking, nature, especially her animals. She was a big fan of Cole Porter, Little Richard, George Michael, the Beach Boys, the Beatles in their later years, the New Kids on the Block & the Wahlburg family and Queen was her all-time favorite band. She loved playing the Lottery and was a highly skilled card player, sometimes even cut-throat. Her daughter Danielle learned counting cards from her. Games of Gin and Rummy could get wildly out of hand at times.

Judy had a very inquisitive mind and had a life-long love of learning. Conversations with her were very intelligent and often included a wide variety of topics, except Math. Her daughter Danielle would try and include her in her love of Math and was told to hush-up. A foodie through and through, she created quite an extensive collection of recipes from various newspapers. Danielle will truly never be able to cook her way through them all.

As a native Washingtonian, Judy was a life-long Redskins/Commanders fan. She was so excited to see the Nationals win the World Series in 2019. While living in Bucks County, she learned to love and stick with the Eagles and Phillies. One of her favorite memories was game six of the 1980 World Series. She was thrilled again in 2008 when the Philles won it all again. She said, “of course the Philles would need six games to win it in five!” Nothing was more exciting for her was seeing the Eagles win two Super Bowls.

Judy followed pop-culture, current events, and the stock market. Named for Judy Garland, she loved the movie, “The Wizard of Oz.” She watched the news but would also happily binge-watch the entire “Big Bang Theory” franchise, any movie with Audrey Hepburn or George Clooney, and cooking shows, and “Dancing with the Stars,” and “Farmhouse Fixer.” She was happiest spending time with friends, family and spoiling her pets. Judith will be truly missed.

A private inurnment and Celebration of Life will be held later. Donations in her name can be made to the American Foundation for the Blind or the Humane Society of Carroll County.
