Judith Kerin Garner, 90, passed away on February 22, 2026, in her hometown of Anderson, where she was born and raised.
Judith attended St. Mary’s Schools from kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating at the top of her class in 1954. She continued her education at Marion College and later earned a trade certification from General Motors, becoming the first woman in the area to work as a Journeyman Toolmaker. A position she held with great pride. She went on to do Mechanical Tool Design before retiring from GM in 1993.
A lifelong learner and independent spirit, Judith enjoyed studying various religions and exploring new ideas. She had a passion for gardening, reading, home remodeling, and enjoyed watching soap operas. An avid crafter, she found joy in painting, needlepoint, and crocheting- creating a afghans for each of her children and grandchildren. Judith was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
Judith is survived by her children, Bryan (Tammy) Garner, Diane (Larry) Frechin, Andy Garner, Cathy (Garner) Cortecht, and Dave (Lenore) Schmink; her siblings, David Lindzy and Keith (Aletha) Lindzy; 9 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Her intelligence, strong memory, and creative spirit touched all who knew her. Judith will be remembered for her independence and her love for family.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday February 28th from 12pm - 2pm at Red Bud Estates Community Building 1800 W. 38th St. Anderson, IN 46013
