Judy Howe (née Throneberry), age 73, of Lula, Georgia, passed away at home with her family by her side, on Thursday, July 24, 2025, after a brief illness.
Born in Seattle Washington to the late Neal and Loretta Throneberry, Judy led a busy, industrious, and fulfilling life. At Sylvan high school in Atlanta, she loved skating and dating, and quickly graduated, entered the working world and began to support herself. She soon was married, and had a bouncing baby boy and began a family.
After the marriage ended, she spent a year in California with her new son, then returned to establish a new home and career in Atlanta. Obtaining a good position at Bellsouth, she happily focused on work and family. After 12 years there, she met and married Thomas V. Howe, a Navy Chief(ret.), a combat veteran, and they established a happy household.
In 1988, they built their new country home in Lula, Georgia, and have remained there since. Judy was born with a green thumb, and they built a nice garden and a greenhouse to grow herbs and fresh foods. She loved trees and birds and surrounded herself with nature as much as possible. She also enjoyed studying the family genealogy and history.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Tom. She is survived by her three brothers, Jeff (76), of Gillsville; Mark (71), of Lula; and Dan, (69) of Mesquite, TX; her son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Lisa York, of Mt. Airy, and her three grandchildren, Cody, Wyatt and Allison.
There will be a graveside ceremony and burial at the family cemetery near Tullahoma, Tennessee. A service time will be announced.
