Judith Johnson Obituary

Judith A Johnson (Setter) Age 81, died peacefully at home February 12, 2026 in Coon Rapids. She was born April 19, 1944 in Baldwin, WI to Wallace & Irene Setter into a dairy farming family near Deer Park, WI. She attended grade school at Edgewood School and later graduated from Clear Lake High School.

While still in high school, Judy was a part of a singing trio that performed at a neighboring church service. This is where she met her future husband, Dave. Upon graduating from high school, she attended Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN and received her RN certification. After dating for five and a half years, Dave and Judy were married two weeks after he returned home from being on active duty with the military in Germany, on January 29, 1966.

They made their first home in Anoka, MN, and she worked as a pediatric nurse at Mercy Hospital. They started attending Anoka Covenant Church in 1967 and are still faithful members. After their two children were born, she stayed home to raise her family.

She and Dave moved to Oak Grove township when their kids were small, and later she worked part time at St. Francis Elementary as a teacher's aid during, and after, her children attended there.

As the kids grew older, she decided to take a refresher course and got a part time night nursing job at Unity Hospital in Fridley, MN. She retired when Dave did, and they enjoyed traveling and being with grandchildren during retirement.

Judy kept busy at home with activities such as gardening, canning, baking, sewing & quilting. Making quilts led her to the Ham Lake Piecemakers quilt group. Judy also loved to read and took responsibility for their church library. She was the library director there for 30 plus years. She also enjoyed singing as part of choirs and small groups.

Judy is survived by her husband, Dave, children Greg (Jenny) Johnson, Carrie (Brian) Klapperich and grandchildren, Caleb Johnson and Nathan Johnson; Anna Klapperich, Thomas (fiancée Madelyn Wald) Klapperich & Grace (David) Putz.

Funeral service will be held Saturday March 7, 2026 at 2 PM with visitation one hour prior at Anoka Covenant Church, 752 Grant St, Anoka, MN.

A special thank you to Dr. King and his staff at Minnesota Oncology, Fridley, and the Hospice of the Midwest for their excellent care. And thank you to the kind residents of Realife Cooperative for their prayers and support.
